Caitlan was awarded a BSc in Biomedical Science from University of Kent in 2021. During her BSc, she undertook an industrial placement year at King鈥檚 College London focusing on steroid hormone modulation of reproductive function with age. After completing her undergraduate degree, she continued this work, returning to the lab as a Research Assistant.
Caitlan is now a PhD student in the McGough Group as of October 2022. Her PhD project is focused on the mechanisms of ageing, specifically proteostasis collapse and heat shock protein capacity with age. This work aims to explore the relationship between proteostasis collapse and other hallmarks of ageing, epigenetic modifications and genomic instability, using the Drosophila intestinal stem cells as a model system.
